Monthly Message

The Wutherich & Co. Composite was up 2.8% in April. This compares with the S&P 500, up 1.0%, the DJIA up 0.4%, the NASDAQ up 0.8%, the S&P/TSX up 2.4%, while the BMO Small Cap Index was up 4.9%.

For all the grief our Energy names have given us over the past year, they have given us some joy in the last few months. How long this lasts, we don’t know. We are always testing the viability of the companies in our portfolio and in general, they look quite good. We still have plenty of cash and would love it if investors “Sell in May and Go Away”, as the old adage advises. We would be happy to buy some of their better quality, long-term growth names
